Objective :      The objective of the bridge course is to demystify what is expected of students in pre university level classes and to provide adequate foundation in the core applied science.

Department of Botany has conducted a five week bridge course in “ Slide mounting “ for 1 year life science students to make them aware of basic techniques in microscopy and staining to enhance the practical skills of students like handling of microscopes, dissection, media preparation, staining, permanent & temporary slide preparation, techniques of slide mounting etc.,

These skills are necessary to do the practical syllabus of three years undergraduate course. This course was designed to teach degree 1st year students about the basics of microscopy, mounting & staining or they usually do not get enough practical knowledge in practical level.

This course will help them to gain practical knowledge in botany and help them to better in their practical classes.

    

Program Outcome :  After the completion of this course the children were able to

Understand the importance of core of slides.
Distinguish between temporary and permanent slides.
Understand the simple techniques for slide preparation.
Understand the different types of staining techniques.
Learn microscope handling & how to adjust the knobs.
Student are trained to make this section of plant materials using blades.
Practically understand the difference between wet mount, dry mount, smear slides and squash slides etc.,
