B.Sc. (Botany-Zoology-Chemistry)

  • In this course, students are going to acquire strong theory and practical knowledge in Botany, Zoology and Chemistry.

  • What Students study?

    • Cell biology, Genetics, Plant anatomy, Embryology, Plant physiology, Taxonomy, Ecology, Plant development and Reproduction

    • Invertebrate and Vertebrate anatomy, Animal physiology, Endocrinology, Enzymology, Animal Biotechnology, Developmental Biology, Intermediary metabolism

    • Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry

  • Career Opportunities:

    • Students can do Master’s degree in Botany/Zoology/Chemistry/any other branch of Life sciences like Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Food and Nutrition/Forensic Science etc.

    • Students are eligible to write JAM (Joint Admission test for Masters) through which they can pursue their Integrated PhD at IISc, IIT’s, TIFR, NCBS & IISER’s.

    • Students can get admission into M.Sc. Biotechnology through GAT-B examination (Graduate Aptitude Test- Biotechnology), sponsored by DBT, INDIA.

    • Students are eligible to pursue their B. Ed, MBA etc.

  • Job Opportunities:

    • Students have job opportunities in various Seed and Nursery Companies, Food Industries, Horticulture farms, Poultry, Aquaculture industries, Chemical and Pharma Companies to work as Nursery manager, Technical Assistant, Florist, Farm technician, Field office, Research Assistant, Chemist etc.

    • Students are eligible for government jobs with B.Sc. qualification through APPSC, UPSC, SSC, RRB, FCI etc.

Program Outcomes

PROGRAM  OUTCOME FOR GRADUATES

Graduates will be able to:

PO1: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, arts, commerce and management principles to solve the critical problems and enhance the human wellbeing.

PO2: Analyze complex problems reaching substantiated conclusions from different perspectives using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, commerce and Management.

PO3: Analyze the experimental data and interpret information to provide valid conclusions.

PO4: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern scientific tools including prediction and modeling to complex activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO5:  Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, environmental, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities to demonstrate the knowledge of a graduate for sustainable development.

PO6: Recognize different value systems and Apply ethical Principles with commitment to one’s own actions to become a responsible citizen of India.

PO7: Identify, Formulate, Review research literature, and Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multidisciplinary settings.
