About

The main aim of any kind of education is the progressive and holistic development of the students. Keeping this objective in view,  St. Joseph’s Degree College has constituted Cultural and Literary Activities Committee (CLAC). CLAC involves every student, irrespective of the department they belong to. As the name suggests, CLAC help students to keep in touch with the rich  cultural values, customs and traditions of our country by  organizing cultural performances/Celebrating festivals and acts as a forum to hone and showcase their abilities as well as polish their  communication skills, expressivity,  and critical thinking  power and thus equip them to face professional life with confidence.

Objectives of CLAC

The objective of CLAC is to develop student members by making them participate and organize various Cultural & Literary Activities resulting  in enhancement of the personal skills and experiences like confidence; self- presentation; teamwork and collaboration;time management and organizational skills; self-awareness; self-discipline; open mindedness to move beyond boundaries and experiment with different ideas; communication skills; the ability to cope with criticism and learn from them resulting in a whole new developed, and an improved person so that they may contribute in a better way towards the development of society.

  1. To mould the personality of students, exposing them to a wide range of cultural events throughout the year.

  2. To help students overcome their shyness and constraints in speaking, reading and writing, various competitions such as Debate, Book Review, Essay Writing and Public Speaking on various social and personal issues etc., are conducted.

  3. To help the students to understand themselves and others in a better way by way of this communion through the participations in various events conducted in the campus and outside the campus during each year.

  4. To develop leadership and decision-making skills,  student members of the  CLAC have the opportunity of  organizing, funding, public relations,  regulating, and scheduling activities.

  5. To keep students active, healthy, competitive and stress free.

Membership

  1. Application for membership into the Cultural and Literary Activities Committee is open to ALL STUDENTS of Mathematics, Life sciences and Commerce & Management.

  2. Student Member of any Club, Cell, NSS, Red Cross etc., can become the member of CLAC.

  3. Membership Fee: Rs.100/-.

  4. Any member may be dismissed from the CLAC because of misconduct, failure to meet her / his responsibilities to the CLAC. An acceptable excuse must be furnished to the Chairperson for misconduct failure to meet her / his responsibilities to the CLAC.

  5. A member may be expelled from CLAC by a vote of the two-thirds majority of the faculty members of the Committee.

  6. All registered members will be given Membership Certificate after the completion of three-year degree course.
