Course: B.Sc. (MBC)

In this course, the student is going to learn, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Chemistry for three academic years.

What Students study?

Acquire Knowledge in theory and Practicals of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Chemistry. Understand the concepts, techniques of microbial biotechnology, immunology, medical microbiology, r DNA Technology, physical, organic and inorganic chemistry

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:

After the completion of this course, students can go for higher education like M.Sc. Biotechnology through GAT-B examination (Graduate Aptitude Test- Biotechnology), sponsored by DBT, Master’s degree- Microbiology/Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ any branch of Life sciences, JAM (Joint Admission test for Masters) to pursue Integrated PhD at IISc, IIT’s, TIFR, NCBS & IISER’s.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES:

In the final year the students have a lot of opportunities to start their careers as an Employee in either national or international companies. Gain Job opportunities in various Pharma and Biotech industries and Clinical laboratories, Food technology Environmental protection agencies, chemical industries to work as Technical Assistant, Diagnostic Specialist, Research Assistant etc.

SUMMER RESEARCH PROJECT

Molecular docking Research programme, Drug formulation programme, Fermentation technology programme provided by CSIR in the months of May and June.  http://www.csir.res.in

Basic research programme provided by TIFR (tata institute of fundamental research) in January every year.  http://www.tifr.res.in

SKILL ATTAINED

Develop familiarity in current techniques of life sciences and have the ability to critically analyse, apply and establish a research process in specific areas

Ability to manipulate precise and intricate ideas, Time management, Team work, Critical thinking, Problem solving, and Analytical thinking.

PROGRAM  OUTCOME FOR GRADUATES

Graduates will be able to:

PO1: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, arts, commerce and management principles to solve the critical problems and enhance the human wellbeing.

PO2: Analyze complex problems reaching substantiated conclusions from different perspectives using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, commerce and Management.
