FIELD VISIT REPORT TO GARGEYAPURAM

CLASS & GROUP: II B.Sc (BBC, BZC, BMC)

As a part of II B.Sc curriculum one day field trip was organized to Gargeyapuram city forest, Kurnool by the Department of Botany St.Joseph’s Degree College, Kurnool.

The major objective was to familiarize the students with the flora & ecology of the region .Also to acquaint them with the importance of flora of forest area and the threats these ecosystems face due to natural  and Anthropogenic pressures.

A group of 130 students were accompanied by our Botany department staff and attenders . As a part of their  curriculum students collected plants for Herbarium preparations

The forest area was beautified with different species of plants Bambusa species, Bauhinia, Careya,Dillenia, Ficus , Mangifera, Terminalia.  Haldinia, Tecoma stans, Lantana camara, Physalis minima, Ipomea species etc.

Dominant families observed were poaceae, papilionaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Lamiaceae and Asteraceae.

    

    

Program Outcome:

By visiting these places the students were entitled and they came to know different plant specimens in forest area .

The field trip sensitized the students towards caring for the environment and the importance of planting more trees mostly endemic species.
