Activity programme : Botany Science Expo

Classes involved : B Sc  Students

       To promote participatory and hands on learning in natural science, Department of Botany conducted a two day science expo for botany students on 29 & 30th January on account of Silver Jubilee Celebrations of St. Joseph’s Degree College .

        In the expo 20 models were displayed and the displayed models covered themes like modern farming techniques, Tissue culture, Waste water reclamation, Genetic engineering, environmental issues, Biodiversity, Herbal medicine, Bio-plastics etc., By the use of technology in agriculture principal madam said that this exhibition is a platform for students to present their new ideas and learn from each other and an opportunity to find out original thinkers. On the walls there were various posters hanging with diagrams, illustrations, statements, pictures. In this exhibition students showcased static working models, exhibits, projects supported by reports, displays.

         The judge of the expo was Lecturer in Botany, Dr. Raghuramulu, Govt. Degree College for Men, Kurnool. He listened to the students with great patience.

         He was quite amazed by the immediate response of students to his questions. The judge posed a lot of questions to students and enquired about their project. He was full of praise for the hard work of students. He congratulated all participants who involved for project exhibit and each & every project was praiseworthy.  Students explained about their exhibits with utmost patience to judge as well as to visitors.

          A science exhibition is a wonderful tool that engages students in learning new facts and inventions with a zeal of interest. Science exhibition explores the creative talent of the students and force them to think outside the box.

   Prizes :     1 and 2 prizes were decided based on the appearance of project, ideas, presentation and applications of project.

                     The judge finally decided the prizes and the 1ST prize was bagged by II BMC (G) - They worked on project titled “ High density integrated farming”.

                     The 2ND Prize was bagged by I BZC (G) – Jyothi Priya and Gowri priya, they made a working model on “ Water reclamation plant”.

    

 Program Outcome:   

 This science expo gave an opportunity to develop social and moral skills.
 It showcased their hidden thoughts, skills , talents.
 This kind of science exhibition boosts the confidence and develop the interest and curiosity of student.
 The students learn how to speak publicly and get rid off their stage fear.
 The expo enhanced their technical knowledge presentation skills, skills of leadership, managerial skills apart from knowledge of botany.
 Students applied their class room knowledge & bookish knowledge in this exhibition and developed presentation skills.
 The program was a grand success with students involment and students were happy with their achievements.
