The main aim of joining NSS is Personality Development through community services. So , definitely after going for it will result in building you a great personality. And you may need not to opt for personality development classes :
By joining NSS you will opt for a journey to discover yourself.

  4. You will explore different cultures, mentality and actual situations/problems in different parts of the state, in villages, in different parts of country and even different nations through NSS special camps, state camps, National camps and International Exchange programs.
  5. The work you do will provide you with self satisfaction which is worth of spending time in it. Believe me or not it is the one of the best extra - curricular activity to be a part of.
  6. By doing work in it you will be definitely contributing in building nation.
  7. You will learn a lot about participating, performing and organizing an event.
  8. It helps in developing public speaking quality.
  9. It makes you a socially active and responsible person. You will learn to stand up different among the crowd.
  10. It develops your problem solving skills, you will be able to solve real life and practical problems. It provides you with a lot of opportunities to learn new things.

Some other benefits of NSS are certificates, prizes, popularity, names and photos in news papers, allowances, refreshments, etc.
You will gain more of above listed things only if you are sincere and dedicated to do work genuinely. It will surely boosts up your knowledge overall.
List of activities NSS students do are:-

  1. Volunteering
  2. Tree plantations
  3. Blood donation
  4. Cleanliness drives
  5. Human Chain formations
  6. Adopting one of the villages nearby and contribute in its development.
  7. Spreading awareness in society for different issues like sanity, sewage, population, cleanliness, digitalization, diseases, environment, etc.
  8. Attending special village camps (for creating awareness in villages), state level camps (sports, yoga, art & craft camps), National level camps (youth festivals for sports and cultures, Integration camps, Adventure camps, etc.) and International Exchange Programmes(cultural exchange programmes).
  9. Teaching unprivileged students and motivating them in adopted village.
  10. Celebrating different days like World Environment Day, Woman 's Day, Aids day, etc.
  11. Traffic and Voter awareness programmes.
  12. Slogans making, poster making, essay writing, art and crafts creation competitions for different issues to create awareness.
  13. Teaching about digitalization, Cashless payments and other banking services in adopted village.

There are many other different activities done by NSS students as per their policies and dedication for social work. Overall we could say that NSS works on different social issues of the community to reform a better society.
And for the activities part:

Cleaning! I think this is quite common activity in almost all nss units.

  1. Planting saplings on environment day
  2. Blood donation camp
  3. Awareness camp on road safety
  4. Yoga awareness classes
  5. Volunteering activities like donating food packets..etc
  6. Self satisfaction - Social service is always accompanied with a great deal of satisfaction. It it really satisfying to see yourself do something, something that makes a change in the society.
  7. It is a great platform for students. Maybe you have an undiscovered to desire to do social service? Joining NSS may help you discover your aim.
  8. There are cash prizes and certificates up for grabs for active volunteers. You can add the certificate to your CV.
  9. During your college life, you may (surprisingly) find a lot of idle time. Joining a society or participating in sports is great
