The Department of English, St Joseph’s Degree College conducted a discourse on “Learn Phonetics to avoid MTI” on 28th April,2022. Dr H Akthar Banu, Assistant Professor of English, Silver Jubilee Govt College, Kurnool, was invited as the resource person for the discourse. Introductory remarks of the event were given by the principal of SJDC, Dr K Shanta and Vice principal Dr C V Sathyanarayana. The resource person was introduced by the Head of the Department. Dr H Akthar Banu madam enlightened the students with phonetics and the influence of mother tongue on English language. The discourse was very informative, useful to the students. Students acquired knowledge on the importance of Phonetics and the pronunciation of sounds. Head of the Department felicitated the resource person. At the end feedback forms were collected from the students.
